174: The Courage to Improve Your Health and Leave a Legacy with Ian Clark and Tonia Shimin Voices Of Courage

    • Self-Improvement

In this episode of Voices of Courage, Ken D. Foster interviews Ian Clark, who at the age of 46 was diagnosed with many life-threatening health issues all at once, leaving him with less than three years of life. Refusing to accept the dire circumstances in which he found himself, he decided to pursue a more natural health path by searching for solutions that could help rebuild his health, strength, and extend his life. He is now 63 years young, and is happy and healthy!

In this discussion, Ian takes a deep dive into his health, what he learned, and how he overcame a dire situation. He also shares how we can reclaim our health and continue to improve it as we get older, the importance of recharging, energizing, and cleansing the body, and accelerate the body’s natural ability to heal itself to operate at maximum efficiency.

Ken is also joined by Tonia Shimin, who is representing and telling the behind-the-scenes stories of her father Symeon Shimin, whose career ranged from Hollywood to beloved children's book illustrator to muralist and painter of justice, leaving a mark and a legacy that resonates today. In this interview, Tonia shares Symeon's story and why it's so important that we know about his artwork, how his travels influenced him as a person and an artist, and how the idealism and passion behind his works related to the Black experience and politics which were important to him.
Tonia, a dancer, choreographer, teacher, and award-winning dance filmmaker, has recently curated, edited, and with Mercury Press International, published the award-winning book, The Art of Symeon Shimin, on the remarkable work of her father, whose fine art is here shown in a collection for the first time.
